How will I know that we are a good fit?

Within the process of therapy, it is very important for you to feel comfortable with your therapist. I recognize that I am not a good fit for all clients, and I don’t take it personally. A therapist who is a good fit for you is someone that you feel that you can be honest and open with, can trust, and generally get along with their personality. I am a very calm, laid back therapist – so if you need someone who is more “bubbly”, I may not be a great fit for you. My goal at Revive and Thrive Relational Therapy is to create a safe environment where you feel heard and valued. Each therapy session will look different – sometimes it will mainly be exploring your thoughts and feelings, while other times may be more action based. I provide a free 15 minute consult for you to get a feel for me, and for me to get some basic information from you about why you are seeking therapy. If you think that I am a good match, we can schedule an intake therapy session. Sometimes it takes a couple of sessions to decide that it isn’t the right fit – and that’s okay. Your priority should be finding a therapist that fits you well – you wouldn’t wear a pair of shoes that don’t fit you.

Do you accept insurance or provide superbills?

I do not accept insurance at this time – please see my section on rates for a detailed explanation. I do not provide a superbill for insurance reimbursement for couples therapy, because I do not evaluate individuals for mental health disorders within couples therapy. Because insurance companies do not pay for services without a medical diagnosis for an identified patient, they will not reimburse.

For individual clients, I will provide a superbill by request. Please note that superbills will be provided once monthly, around the 7th of the month following services. Superbills are not a guarantee of reimbursement from your plan.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Revive and Thrive Relational Therapy offers a sliding scale, with limited availability. To apply for one of these slots, please contact me and we will discuss the scale rate available.

How often will I see you?

Most clients are seen for therapy on a weekly basis, as this helps us to move at a good pace. However, if this is unreasonable for you financially or for any other reason, it is not a requirement to be seen weekly, and I offer the flexibility to schedule at a rate that works for you. Clients often begin to “taper off” therapy sessions when a good portion of their goals have been met. At this point, we should discuss the frequency that would be best and come up with a plan for termination of services.

When will I be done with therapy?

The length of therapy varies greatly between clients, depending on their needs and desired outcomes. Many clients feel ready to be done with therapy after about 12 sessions. More complex issues or in the case of having a mental health diagnosis, it can take longer for you to get the skills you need to feel comfortable without therapy. The termination process is best done with planning, so if you begin to feel like you are ready to be done, please let me know.
